4-9-25 UPDATE: Both Ordinances TABLED! Great Job! Click here.

TWO Ordinances Propose to Attack Gun Rights in Anchorage! Read more below.
The Anchorage Assembly is attempting to pass Ordinance AO 2025-25, a dangerous expansion of government overreach that would punish law-abiding parents for the actions of their children. This ordinance is nothing more than an attempt to chip away at your Second Amendment rights while creating a nanny-state invasion into your private home.
Why AO 2025-25 Must Be Stopped
- A Dangerous Assault on our right and duty to defend our loved ones in our own homes, making us vulnerable to burglaries and home invasions.
- A Direct Attack on the Second Amendment – This ordinance makes it harder for responsible gun owners to defend their homes and families by imposing burdensome storage requirements. The right to bear arms includes the right to access them when needed most.
- A Violation of the Fourth Amendment – This law sets a dangerous precedent, allowing the government to police how citizens store their firearms in their own homes. What’s next? Unwarranted inspections and mandatory home searches?
- Criminalizing Law-Abiding Parents – Holding parents criminally responsible for the independent actions of their children is an extreme overreach of government power. This law targets the innocent instead of criminals.
- A Government Nanny-State – Anchorage’s government should not dictate how responsible citizens store their firearms. This is a massive invasion of privacy, and it opens the door for even more intrusive government regulations in the future.
UPDATE Below: Another Overreach – Mandatory Reporting of Stolen Firearms

The Anchorage Assembly is also targeting law-abiding gun owners with AO 2025-28, a misguided ordinance that mandates reporting lost or stolen firearms within 48 hours—or face criminal charges.
While disguised as a “public safety” measure, this ordinance penalizes victims of theft rather than focusing on actual criminals. Gun owners who fail to report in time, whether due to delayed discovery or simple oversight, could face a Class B misdemeanor—turning innocent citizens into criminals overnight.
Why AO 2025-28 is Wrong
🔹 Burden on Responsible Gun Owners – The real criminals are the ones stealing firearms, yet this law punishes those who have already suffered a loss.
🔹 Violates Alaska Law – State law (AS 29.35.145) prohibits local firearm regulations, yet the Assembly is once again pushing its own anti-gun agenda.
🔹 Useless for Crime Prevention – Criminals don’t follow laws—you do, and that’s who they’re targeting.

Subject: OPPOSE AO 2025-25 and AO 2025-28 – Protect Our Rights!
Anchorage Assembly Members,
I strongly oppose Ordinance AO 2025-25, as it violates the Second Amendment by requiring firearms be locked up and the Fourth Amendment by inviting government overreach into private homes.
I also strongly oppose Ordinance AO 2025-28, as it unfairly punishes law-abiding gun owners by criminalizing delayed reporting of stolen firearms, infringes on Second Amendment rights, and conflicts with Alaska’s state preemption laws.
Both proposals unfairly criminalize responsible Alaskans while failing to stop crime. I urge you to vote NO and stand for personal freedoms and my rights.
Sincerely,
